Expert from the Association attended RTHK TV program to analyse the experience of Autism Spectrum Disorder, (ASD) people

Sam Tsang is the main character of the 10th episode of RTHK TV program "Inclusive HK”. He has the user name "李笨"(Chinese only), comes from a German noun "Lebensraum", which represents living space. He is a person with IQ over 120, but he has been diagnosed as persons with High Functioning Autismsince childhood. When his family decided not to disclose his symptoms, he grew up in a mainstream learning environment from kindergarten to university. He described that his life experience is more bitter than sweet before aged 30.

Dr. Joanne C. Y. Wong, Senior Manager(Clinical Service)of the Association made use of Sam as an example in the TV program to explain that people with ASD are discriminated against and excluded by others. Theywill have incomprehensible behaviour when they cannot integrate into society. Although the degree of diversity in society has improved and many employers are willing to hire people with ASD, there is still a long way to go in having inclusion and appreciation. Through the dialogue between Dr. Wong and Sam, it can analyse the feasible direction of realising an inclusive society.
