The story of 阿米 (Chinese only)

阿米 (Chinese only) was once healthy and lively, but an unfortunate stroke left her with aphasia, affecting her speech, comprehension, and mobility. In the early stages, she often broke down in tears, her life consumed by helplessness and loneliness, to the point where she struggled to make sense of the world around her. However, with the companionship of her family, the support of friends, and the help of the professional team at the SAHK New Territories West Integrated Community Rehabilitation Centre. She chose not to give up.

She worked hard to learn how to express her needs using a communication book, which contained pictures of her most frequently used and favorite items—like Doraemon and fish burger. These heartwarming "new friends” became indispensable companions on her road to recovery, showing that the love surrounding us can be conveyed even without words.

The professional team began with indoor training, gradually helping 阿米 (Chinese only) adapt to the outside world. From practicing how to stand to engaging in functional activities on the streets and in shopping malls, she gradually stepped out of her home and reconnected with a world that felt both familiar and unfamiliar.
