Original musical of Jockey Club Elaine Field School wins a number of awards at the Hong Kong School Drama Festival
The original musical ‘A Moment of Cherishing’ (珍愛一刻) produced by the drama troupe of the Association's Jockey Club Elaine Field School participated in the Hong Kong Schools Drama Festival (Secondary School Cantonese Section) this year, and won the Adjudicators' Award, Award For Outstanding Script, Award For Outstanding Performer, Award For Outstanding Stage Effects and Award For Outstanding Cooperation.
The troupe attended the Award Presentation Ceremony at Kwai Tsing Theatre on 31 May and was given the opportunity to perform in public. The sincere and touching performance won the audience's applause and high recognition.
The play is adapted from the real life of Tiger, a talented artist. The story is about Amy, who works in a finance company after graduating from high school and is bored with her life. One day, she stumbles upon her childhood friend Lion in a TV programme, and realises that he is suffering from Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), a progressive degeneration of his body functions. Having lost contact with Lion by misunderstanding, Amy decides to reach out to him. Despite his deteriorating condition and being wheelchair-bound, Lion still clings to his dream of becoming a photographer. Knowing that his days are numbered, he decides to organise a ‘pre-death funeral’ to say goodbye to his friend.
The Judges praised the touching and encouraging original songs throughout the play, which showed the characters' lives and journeys in details. The two main characters managed to perform with consistency and a high standard, showing the hard work and perseverance behind the scenes.
‘A Moment of Cherishing’ is a very inspiring story, we hope every audience will be inspired by it.
The team won the Award For Outstanding Cooperation.
