SAHK Child Development Services

The Child Development Centres of SAHK, a self-financed service, are located in Fortress Hill, Lok Fu, Tsuen Wan and Causeway Bay respectively. Recently it has expanded to provide professional individual and group training, including a sensory integration training room, to children and teenagers with special needs, aged 18 and under. In addition, it provides support service to parents through talks, workshops to enhance their skills in taking care of their child with special needs.

The objective of the Centre is to grasp the opportune time in the learning stages of the child. To provide them with related professional consultation, assessment and training, so as to increase their potentials. Outreach support service is also provided to schools and other organizations, to assist them in providing guidance and counseling to children with special needs.

Scope of Service:
1.Individual Assessment, Counseling and Therapeutic Training
  • Educational psychology service
    Professional psychological service including assessment on intelligence, attention span, reading and writing abilities, autism and other psychological hindrances, emotional and behaviour analysis, consultation to family and schools, enhancing the development in the areas of learning, emotion, social and behaviour etc. and to assist the parents in understanding the problems , challenges and changes their child has to face in their growing up period.
  • Speech Therapy
    To provide speech therapy through early intervention for children with speech delay e.g. assessment in receptive and expressive language, training in social and communication, articulation training, voice therapy, stuttering therapy, oral motor training. Parents are also trained to grasp the techniques so as to enhance and strengthen the learning abilities of the child.
  • Occupational Therapy
    To provide occupational therapy assessment and training for children with learning difficulties, developmental delay or developmental coordination disorder. Training will include sensory integration, fine motor, attention, pre-writing and writing skills, self care and daily living skills. All these will help to increase their learning abilities, fine motor development and self care abilities.
  • Physiotherapy
    To provide appropriate assessment, training, guidance and home training programme, including gross motor training, functional capacity assessment, early physical training for infants, physical and advanced physical skills training, motor planning and motor coordination training, physical fitness training, and flat fee or scoliosis etc. All these will solicit the assistance of parents to improve the physical abilities of children with developmental delay.
  • Child Developmental Training
    To provide appropriate assessment, training, guidance and home training programme, including gross motor training, functional capacity assessment, early physical training for infants, physical and advanced physical skills training, motor planning and motor coordination training, physical fitness training, and flat fee or scoliosis etc. All these will solicit the assistance of parents to improve the physical abilities of children with developmental delay.

Service Hours :
Monday to Saturday 9am-5:30pm (Lunch hour: 12:30pm - 1:30pm)
