Jockey Club A-Connect: Jockey Club Autism Support Network – School Support

In recent years, the number of students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) studying in ordinary primary and secondary schools has been increasing continuously. To provide a comprehensive support service to students and parents in need, The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust has pioneered a three-year programme specially for ASD - "JC A-Connect: Jockey Club Autism Support Network” since September 2015.

School Support service provides on-site group training for primary and secondary students with ASD, to improve the social communication, emotional regulation and learning strategies of ASD students to help with behavioral problems, enhance their overall learning ability and social skills. The programme is the first all-round support event especially for students with ASD, their families and schools.

School Support Service_School Inclusion activity

In 2015-16 academic year, the programme has provided service for 59 secondary and primary schools, content includes:

  1. Coaching programmes to ASD students
    • Small groups based on assisting students to improve social communication skills, emotional regulation, attention span and mind-reading abilities, etc., enhance their campus adaptations skills.
  2. Training programmes and consultation services to teachers
    • Seminars/workshops and consultation are offered to teachers, to raise their understanding on ASD students and increase the effectiveness of supporting students with ASD.
  3. Peer integrative groups/activities
    • Integrative activities are organised to enhance peers understanding and acceptance of schoolmates with ASD.
  4. Consultation service to parents
    • Seminars/small groups are catered for parents, to facilitate their knowledge and skills in educating children with ASD, and provide emotional support.

Service Hours:
Monday to Friday: 9 a.m-5 p.m.
(We will arrange other service time accordingly to the situation.)
