Secretary for Labour and Welfare visited LOHAS Garden Praise trainees’ performance
Mr. Chris SUN, JP, Secretary for Labour and Welfare, accompanied by Ms Alice LAU Yim, JP, Permanent Secretary for Labour and Welfare, Miss Charmaine LEE, Director of Social Welfare, Miss Vega WONG, JP, Commissioner for Rehabilitation, Miss Hannah YIP, Assistant Director (Rehabilitation & Med Social Services) visited the Association’s LOHAS Garden on 29 November 2022. Mr. Eddie SUEN, Chief Executive Officer, Ms Edith HUNG, Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Ms Winnie HUI, Head (Adult Service) and Ms Vicky LEE, Superintendent of LOHAS Garden received the visitors.
Ms Vicky LEE highlighted the LOHAS Training Centre to the guests. The centre specially designs courses and learning strategies for severely mentally handicapped persons and aims to let them master six major categories, including personal, social and community life more easily. Ms LEE also introduced how the LOHAS Vocational Rehabilitation Centre develops employment opportunities for the trainees through different strategies, such as established own homeware brand "mµse casa”. Mr. Chris SUN was impressed by the mµse casa’s products.
After the visit, Mr. Chris LEE talked with a few staff and trainees in Café LOHAS and LOHAS Florist. Mr. LEE praised the trainees’ for their cooking skills and thanked the staff for working hard during the pandemic.
Rehabilitation service is one of the major items that the government is committed in ensuring people's access to social assistance. The government said they would continue to strengthen support for persons with disabilities and the carers. The Association is also dedicated to provide professional and high quality rehabilitation service, enable persons with disabilities to realise their full potential, promotes disability inclusion society and assists the service users become participating members of the society.
