Secretary for Labour and Welfare visited Siu Lam Greenery Villa Praise the Association’s service

Mr. Chris SUN, JP, Secretary for Labour and Welfare, accompanied by Miss Sammi FU, Political Assistant to Secretary for Labour and Welfare, and Miss Olivia LAM, Assistant Secretary for Labour and Welfare (Rehabilitation) 2, visited one of the operators of Hong Kong’s largest integrated rehabilitation services complex project - the Association’s Siu Lam Greenery Villa on 24 January 2024. Mrs. Josephine PANG, MH, Chairperson of the Association; Mr. Eddie SUEN, Chief Executive Officer; Ms Edith HUNG, Deputy Chief Executive Officer, and Ms Vicky LEE, Superintendent of Siu Lam Greenery Villa, received the visitors.

Ms Vicky LEE introduced the advanced equipment and systems used by the Siu Lam Greenery Villa to Mr. Chris SUN, including automated tablet dispensing and packaging system, facial recognition anti-wandering system, bed sensor and fall prevention systems, etc., which not only enhance the service efficiency of Siu Lam Greenery Villa, while protecting the safety of service users. Siu Lam Greenery Villa also set up an "intelligent exercise area", introducing intelligent management system and related equipment to develop more effective rehabilitation training plans for service users.

The party first visited Siu Lam Greenery Villa Greenery Vocational Rehabilitation Centre and interacted with the trainees in the café. They also visited the laundry workshop, rooftop garden, ceramic workshop and other places to learn about the vocational training provided by the Association and how the Association helps persons with disabilities realise their full potential. Mr. SUN praised the rehabilitation services provided by the Association for being truly "people-oriented and helping people to help themselves". Afterward, Mr. SUN visited the hostel for moderately mentally handicapped persons – Tsing Yuet Inn and the hostel for severely physically handicapped persons – Tsing Yau Inn, learned about the specially set up "樂聚閣”, "樂廚閣” and ”樂動閣” (Chinese only). Mr. SUN appreciated Greenery Villa attentively connecting trainees, their families and the community.

Siu Lam Greenery Villa commenced operation in December 2023 and offers 150 residential places and 160 places for integrated vocational rehabilitation training and supported employment service in phases. For details, please contact Siu Lam Greenery Villa at 2129 9788.
